CUBE ESCAPE
(2021)
SUPERVISED BY
ROSS COULTER
For this photo shooting, I aim to create a series of portraits expressing the current situation and emotion of boredom of being in a fixed space everyday.
There are two main meanings of this theme. Firstly, it represents “urban escape”. Most people, even dedicated urbanities, need a break now and then from the concrete jungle, round-the-clock noise, and exhaust fumes, especially during the Victoria lockdown. Guide me to the rural!
Secondly, it has the meaning of “rule escape”.“Lost a chase with the unknown”, is an appropriate description for this situation. When they get used to acting according to rules, they sometimes become constrained even in places where there are no rules or the rules are even not reasonable. For example, the so-called dress style rules.

4:30A.M. MONOLOGUE
(2021)
SUPERVISED BY
JACQUI SHELTON
The night is too short to fly to the dream. The night is so long that I wrote down this 4:30 A.M. monologue.
This project is about people with insomnia. Insomnia is a very serious problem, which deeply affects people’s daily life. However, many people regard it as normal and do not take it as seriously as other mental illnesses. I named it “4:30 A.M. Monologue”, which means the true state of the insomniac from the late night to early morning for this group of people.
Yellow and blue are mainly used to convey anxiety and loneliness. Also pink, which represents a dreamy state - sleep.

BALANCE
(2021)
SUPERVISED BY
DANE KERR
Balance is a zine about Collingwood, a suburb of Melbourne. After the investigation, I found it a place where city people can sink their impetuous mood and find a balance between the hustle and relaxation due to the nice order and also casual artistic atmosphere.
Based upon that, the design idea is to show the dual characteristics of this place through color, typeface and layout.

Saturday is an Australian social enterprise bakery aimed to provide customers with the same high quality bread and coffee as inside the cafe during the COVID-19 lockdown situation. Also from the sales of its delicious foods, the company donates funds to improve the food shortage in the poor areas.
The company got the name Saturday for two reasons. For one thing Saturday always is about relax, which corresponding to the positive feeling the company aims to bring to customers. For the other, Saturday is Saturn day in some culture, which is concerned with agriculture like sowing of seeds. Therefore it is connected to the company’s idea of helping solve food problems.

BUZZ 1977

WARREN TAYLOR
Held at the State Library of victoria, this is an exhibition that brings people’s memories back to the glory days of The Go-Betweens.
Remembered as a great band ahead of the curve, the most different feature of The Go-Betweens is the countless changes they survived. The various style of every record sleeve, along with the constant flow of the members , they break the routine and turn out to be remarkable. Different sounds working together harmoniously, the music itself, the replacement of the members, the changes of the record labels, overall I concluded them as “symphony”.

W ERA
(2021)
SUPERVISED BY
ADAM CRUICKSHANK
W era is a clothing store without gender role. There is no men’s or women’s section. In here, design matters instead of gender. The aim of this project is to break the gendered stereotype of fashion and let people express any form of gender, which is the slogan, whoever can wear whatever.
